Sophomore/Junior Residential Areas

The following residence halls are the locations where most of our sophomores and juniors will select a room as part of our annual housing lottery process that takes place during the Spring semester. Since these buildings include certain special interest communities, such as Greek or Affinity Housing, there will also be McDaniel seniors living in some locations.

Pennsylvania Avenue Houses and McDaniel House

McDaniel College has converted a number of former private residential homes along Pennsylvania Avenue into campus housing. These locations are on campus, fully fire sprinkled, connected to campus telephone, internet, and cable television, and serviced by McDaniel Physical Plant staff. Each house is very different and they can range from four beds to eleven in occupancy, with approximately one hundred students living in the various houses in total. The houses have full kitchens, one or more common areas, one or more bathrooms, and most have access to some lawn area outside. The bedrooms have a Regular twin bed, desk, chair, dresser, and then either a built in closet or wardrobe unit for each student. The houses serve as the center of our Affinity Housing program wherein student apply to live together in groups, seek recognition as a campus organization, and organize a number of events or service activities throughout the academic year focused on a group-selected cause. Each member of the group needs to fulfill 8 hours of service per month, with these students contributing thousands of hours of service to the McDaniel and Westminster communities each year.
